The Top 10 Recipes of 2013

Well, the year 2013 is coming to and end. I took a look to see what the top recipes of the year were, and a couple of them were a bit of a surprise. I thought I would share them with you.

#10 – Carolina BBQ Pulled Pork

This pulled pork is such a favorite. It made me famous around army circles up in Alaska. It was dubbed “Aces BBQ” because I made it for so many of our “Aces Troop” functions.

 

#9 – Homemade Cream of Chicken/Mushroom/Celery Soup

This is really not that much of a surprise. People generally have no idea that a homemade version is so easily prepared to use in recipes. This is so much creamier than the goo out of a can!

 

#8 – Nutella Cheesecake Brownies

I’m so glad to see that this one made the list! It is such a favorite – and after all, it’s Nutella!!

 

#7 – Homemade BBQ Sauce

This is my full-of-flavor-super-rich sauce that I made for special dishes.

 

#6 – Snickerdoodle Brownies

Here’s another favorite goodie that I was thrilled to see on the list. These things are so good!

 

#5 – Homemade Taco Seasoning

Here’s another great staple recipe that was very popular this year.

 

#4 – Bavarian Soft Pretzels

Ah yes, this recipe went crazy on Reddit, and gave me my busiest traffic day of all time!

 

#3 – Crockpot “Mexican” Lasagna

A long time family favorite!

 

#2 – Garlicky Crockpot Chicken

This was a recipe that I developed for a special event with Sauté Express® from Land O’Lakes. Super-moist and flavorful chicken and veggies cooked right in. It was my first “viral” recipe on my new website!

 

And drum roll…………………

 

#1 – Homemade Tortillas

Of all my recipes, who knew that such a basic staple recipe would be such a hit! Well, once you taste them, you’d know why. When I make these, I have to guard the plate because more than one family member will come and try to steal a warm one before supper!

Here’s a few other favorites that just missed the top 10 list.

Drunk Moose Meatballs

This recipe is another that was a major hit when we lived in Alaska. Of course, now I make them with beef, but I had to keep the name.

 

This lovely soup was another that just missed the list. German Potato Soup. I love making this tangy soup, and I think fondly of my time in Germany with each bite.

 

And finally, to round out a “Baker’s Dozen” –  a favorite dessert that just missed the list.

Coconut Rum Cake

I had someone ask me to make a coconut rum cake for them before I left Alaska. I was happy to oblige. This is a grown up dessert – seriously decadent – and a great way to top off the New Year!
