I love making my own taco seasoning, because there are no preservatives or questionable ingredients in it. I don’t include salt in mine, because depending on what you are using it in, you may or may not need it. So this can be adjusted to whatever dish you are making.
In a small jar, you are going to combine the following:
1/4 c Chili Powder
2 Tb ground Cumin
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Garlic Powder
2 tsp Oregano
2 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp ground Roasted Coriander
1/2 tsp ground Chipotle Chile Pepper
1 tsp Black Pepper
and 1/2 cup Corn Starch *Not Pictured
Toss them all in the jar.
Put the lid on and shake. Store the seasoning in your closed jar, in your cupboard.
Now when you make tacos, you will combine this in a skillet with your cooked meat, about 3 Tablespoons of the mix, and 1/3 cup water per pound of meat. Simmer it together until it thickens and coats the meat. This can be cooked ground beef or even shredded chicken. Add salt as needed to taste. You can adjust the liquid and seasoning to suit your taste and needs.
