French Onion Burgers | #WeekdaySupper

With onion infused burgers broiled while you sauté the lovely onions – this is a fun and flavorful weeknight supper.
French Onion Burgers from The Foodie Army Wife

To begin, preheat your broiler.

Slice a large onion very thinly.

In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a tablespoon of butter.

Sprinkle in a half teaspoon of sugar. Sauté the onion over medium low heat until they are golden and tender and gorgeous.

While the onions are doing their thing, prepare your burgers. In a bowl combine 1 1/2 lb of ground beef, a teaspoon of onion powder, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and a half teaspoon each of salt & pepper.

Mix the beef and then form it into 6 burgers. Place these on your broiler pan and broil for about 5-6 minutes or until desired doneness, turning them over half way though.

When your onions are ready, pour in a half cup of beef broth and a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for just a minute.

Serve the burgers on rolls with lettuce and shredded Swiss cheese. Top with the golden onions.

French Onion Burgers
 
Ingredients
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 Tb butter
  • 1 Tb extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1½ lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 3 Tb Worcestershire Sauce, divided
  • ½ c beef broth
  • 6 Rolls
  • shredded Swiss cheese
  • lettuce

Sauté the onion over medium low heat until they are golden and tender and gorgeous. While the onions are doing their thing, prepare your burgers. In a bowl combine the ground beef, onion powder, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and the salt & pepper. Mix the beef and then form it into 6 burgers. Place these on your broiler pan and broil for about 5-6 minutes or until desired doneness, turning them over half way though. When your onions are ready, pour in the beef broth and remaining tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for just a minute. Serve the burgers on rolls with lettuce and shredded Swiss cheese. Top with the golden onions.

    I love onions in each food :). Has anyone already tried this recipe?
    What is best to replace the Swiss cheese? Unfortunately I currently do not have this cheese
