Cooking Slow Cookbook

Sometimes it is nice, in this hustle and bustle crazy life we lead, to simply… Slow. Down.

I recently received a complimentary copy of Cooking Slow by Andrew Schloss and I was immediately in love.  There’s just something about food that has been cooked with love all afternoon. Like a rich stew that has simmered all afternoon in the crockpot, with the beautiful aromas of beef, red wine and herbs filling every nook and cranny of your house. DSC_0036_edited-1I know my family recently experienced this luxury in my own home, when I made the Beef Stew with Red Wine and Rosemary (page 174.) I served it on a warm bed of polenta, and it was simply heaven.

Whether you would like to slow it down with slow roasting, cooking, steaming, grilling, braising, baking or even yes – slow frying –  Cooking Slow will take you through the process and bring you well rounded, full flavored dishes.

It was a pleasure to add this to my cookbook library. I often receive cookbooks that I can’t realistically see myself ever using, but this one isn’t the case. I look forward to sampling more recipes, like the “Triple Chocolate Bypass” on page  202-203. Who can resist a cake that includes this in the description? “If the notion of “too much chocolate” is meaningless to you, the next recipe should stand as a reality check.”

I do believe that is a challenge accepted.

I wish you could share that recipe. While I am quite content with NO chocolate, my husband is one of the ‘there is never enough chocolate’ people.

Guess I’ll have to find a copy of the book. :-)
